Week 1 – Baking, Braless-ness & Bottomless Brunch
Updated: Sep 27, 2020
Week one of lockdown taught me that I had to keep active in order to keep sane, so my housemate and I vowed to use our precious one hour of allocated outdoor time and 8ft by 8ft flat living room space to its full potential. Originally I was still working as lockdown was announced, so made the decision to spend my time incarcerated in my two-bed flat in London which I share with one of my childhood mates, Lucy. This week also marked the last time I would wear a bra that wasn’t of the sporting variety, and the freedom that this brought may convince me to burn them just yet.
Determined to become yogis we started off, yoga mats in hand, trekking to Streatham Common as we wanted to take our ‘practice’ outside to make the most of the sunshine whilst we could, much to the amusement of onlookers and fellow park dwellers. Despite the judgement from our fellow Londoners we enjoyed our alfresco yoga session.
We jumped on the baking bandwagon fairly early on and embraced the lockdown cliché by baking some seriously banging banana bread, which of course ended up on the mandatory ‘gram story. It was also vegan so if you’re into that sort of thing, fill your boots, the recipe is here.
On the weekend we exercised the phrase, 'staying in is the new going out’ by getting our glad rags on purely for our benefit and hosting an at-home bottomless brunch for the two of us, because at this point why not. Much prosecco was drunk, prosecco pong was played, and a severe hangover was had the next morning; I highly recommend…!
